Worldwide efforts on the just transition framework
Globally, the Just Transition framework is gaining recognition as a central pillar of climate action and sustainable development. Several efforts have emerged worldwide to operationalise this concept
UNFCCC emphasizes Just Transition in its work on climate action. At COP26 (2021) and COP27 (2022), countries pledged to phase out coal and adopt renewable energy while ensuring fairness to affected workers and communities.
The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) was launched for countries like South Africa, Indonesia, India and Vietnam. JETP mobilises international financing to transition these coal-dependent economies into renewable energy hubs.
